Safe Passagesupport for those struggling with homosexuality
|
This past year has been a time of refreshment and deepening as Safe Passage, the small, open support group meeting on Monday nights since October 1992, settles into its new home at Vision Christian Fellowship (VCF) in Pasadena, CA.
Since that time, we have been meeting in Montrose (near Glendale), much like a home fellowship. Meetings consist of worship, small group sharing, prayer, and brief teachings on topics related to following God amidst struggles with homosexuality.
The year's highlight thus far was sharing on Sunday, July 29th with the congregation about the group, expressing both an invitation for those interested, and expressing the vision for a life so filled with His glory that it transforms how we relate to one another, providing intimacy beyond our limited understanding, and reclaiming sexuality (whether stewarded in celibacy or marriage) in the beauty and creativity He intended. For fruitfulness is not measured in physical terms alone, as expressed in this passage which will be the theme for the church's upcoming annual "Advance" in the mountains:
"Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD." -- Isaiah 54:1
It has been a wonderful year, and we look forward with joy at the the growth and fulness of the year to come.
