Message.. I spend at least one to one and half hour every day after school ends. I go in an hour early every morning. I also go in on the weekends just to stay ahead of the paperwork. I live a half hour away from my home so i put in some long days. so yes, we spend a lot of time at school.. not to mention meetings, planned and unplanned.
that is the nature of the beast if you are a good teacher..

Its just the second day of school and already my eyes are killing me from being under the fluorescent lights all day. Message.. My son, Jarrod, is a 2nd grader. Does anyone have any suggestions on studing for spelling tests. His homework in Monday's is to write the words 3 times each. I usually follow up with pyramids on Tuesday. Then have him write the words 2 time each on Wednesday and then we take practice tests. That was fine for the first two weeks of school, now the words are getting harder and he don't seem to be catching on like I would like him to. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Katherine, Concerned Mom

Message.. I'm attempting to pursue a Master's in Learning and Technology and am in the process of working on 2 projects simultaneously. For these projects, I am attempting to design a training course for teachers on integrating visuals, hands-on materials, games and real-world applications to their math classrooms. My project is mainly focusing on 3-5 grades because I am more familiar with that age group than others, and the math is on a level that I have a decent understanding of it. The challenge is that I am not a teacher, I design and edit supplemental math materials for schools, so I don't know or interact with a lot of teachers (unless there is a problem with one of our books that falls within my area). So, seeing as I need to do a needs analysis, for my project which requires some input from teachers... I need to find some teachers who would be willing to help me! I'd like to get some diverse teachers... inner city, rural, suburban, new teachers, experienced, etc.... This would basically involve answering a survey via email (all anonymous, only I would know your email address, and only for the duration of the project). I'm trying to keep the surveys short, so it would take no more than 20-30 minutes of your time. If you can give me some time in the next month to give me some input, please email me at cattdogg29@aol.com. Thanks so much! Sharon
