I am a brand new ELL teacher this year after almost 9 years as a special/elementary education teacher. I am very nervous and anxious about this new position. Can someone please help me? I am responsible for reading and language arts grades, but I am not even sure how to set up my grade book. Do I follow what the teachers do in terms of lesson plans? I am a little nervous because I am not sure how to go about setting up my room for this class. I also have to tutor four days a week and go into the other lower grades for 45 mins/wk. Do I talk to the principal? My supervisor? What should I do? I want to make a great impression, but I am not sure where to start? I am sorry if it sounds like I am ranting and everything, it"s just my last week before I start. I am also trying to get moved in with my in-laws before I start next Monday and take care of business here before I leave. Any and all advice would be great.
