I am having a difficult time creating lesson plans for my caseloads of special education students. This year special education teachers have to submit lesson plans along with the general ed. teacher but the general ed. teachers sometimes do not have their lesson plans ready on Friday for me to create my plans. I wanted to know what would be the best way to handle this situation and does anybody know of some good wesites that have modified lessons plans for special education students in junior high school?

Are you familiar with the book
THE HUNDRED DRESSES? It is a terrific book that teaches a lesson about treating people who are different kindly. However, it was written some time ago and is dated. My third grade students no longer seem to enjoy reading it. I am looking for a newer more up to date novel that teaches this same lesson. Any suggestions? It will need to be a fairly simple, one that third graders can read. Thank you.

I am excited to begin my second year of teaching Kindergarten. I will have 17 students in my classroom (which is 2 less than last year) and as far as I know no children identified yet with special needs (that does not say much though in K that usually becomes one of our responsibilities if they then decided to service Kindergarten students.) of course there are a lot of hand on materials to get ready for Kindergarten. Any new suggestions?

I am a brand new ELL teacher this year after almost 9 years as a special/elementary education teacher. I am very nervous and anxious about this new position. Can someone please help me? I am responsible for reading and language arts grades, but I am not even sure how to set up my grade book. Do I follow what the teachers do in terms of lesson plans? I am a little nervous because I am not sure how to go about setting up my room for this class. I also have to tutor four days a week and go into the other lower grades for 45 mins/wk. Do I talk to the principal? My supervisor? What should I do? I want to make a great impression, but I am not sure where to start? I am sorry if it sounds like I am ranting and everything, it"s just my last week before I start. I am also trying to get moved in with my in-laws before I start next Monday and take care of business here before I leave. Any and all advice would be great.
