Hey Teachers!
I am actually a student at Westlake High School. I have recently found this websight called Quizlet.com. No I am not advertising it around the internet. I showed it to my chemistry, spanish and L.A teachers and they thought it was a great tool for learning vocab! Check it out www.quizlet.com.
Sorry if I sound like a advertisment.
Just thought I would show off this cool place I found!
Thanks for helping us students all the time and tolerating us!

I teach grades 4-6 children with emotional, behavior and learning problems- all subjects. Much of the material out there is simply too difficult or not structured enough. I am in need of a complete unit on teaching the concepts of matter (solids, liquids, gases). I think what would be most useful would be a teacher made unit that include basic information on matter, activities that explain, allowing for students to record responses, etc. Isolated activities are helpful, but I am after material that will cover the whole concept. The students seem to do best with a booklet of some sort in front of them- thanks so much!

Help!
I am a SERT in a school with many IEP"s for academics and behaviour. Our school"s admin is great and the students are too. We have a new VP who is evaluating my learning centre profile. She thinks there are too many students in the LC. I work mainly with gr 7/8 but have students gr 2-8 in my room. Some staff are expressing that I am not firm enough with the students. I don"t yell at them, I let them chat during work time, if they are doing the work and I try to value them as people. The kids love it, but I am miserable as the staff just doesn"t get it.
I am trying to find a profile in writing that supports my philosphy and of course wondering if maybe I really am off the wall and not doing the right thing.

Hello,
I am really glad I found this wesite, I am an ESL teacher for 7th graders at "Secundaria Tecnica #41" wich is a rural junior high school. I have been troubling all past year and the last months to make my class and classroom atractive to my students, you see, they don"t really find a sense on learning english, some of them will not even attend high school anyway, that is the kind of future most of our students hope for around here. In spite of it I want to learn and find the way to inspire them, or even to attract them, that is why I am searching the web and trying to gasp as much as possible of all of this computer or cyber side of english. I am interested in lesson plans, class clipart, stock photos for classes... etc.
Well, I will also like to have contact with teachers around the world. so feel free to add me to your contacts. Have a nice day!
Greetings from Sonora State.

I am a special education teacher working with students from Pre-School through grade 12, disabilities including learning disabilities, hard of hearing, autism, you name it. I teach in two buildings. Because of the lack of time I am not getting to visit classroom teachers as often as I would like, and so am looking for a way to use e-mail to communicate with teachers of inclusion students on a weekly basis. My aim is to get a better picture of what is happening, progress and problems so that when we do get to talk I have some idea of what topics we should cover and am ready to provide whatever help I can. Any suggestions or ideas would be welcome!

I am currently a tutor for an after-school program. I have grades 3rd-6th all at one time for about 2 hours. However, I"m starting to feel overwhelmed and confused. I need one more year till I graduate. I tell my husband what if is just isn"t meant for me? He says, "remember that all teachers say that the first year is the hardest". Does anybody have words of encourgment or memories that might be lifting because right now I"m feeling that the problem is me and most teachers have smooth years and no troubles.

Dear colleagues
my name is Claudia Baumgartinger and I am a student of the
paedagocical university in Vienna, Austria. I will have
my teaching degree by next year....teaching degree for the
junior highschool (ages 10 to 14) for English and Biology.

Since this is my last year I have to finally start working
on my diploma thesis. Today I was talking to my professor
who helps me with my thesis and I finally decided on the
subject, which will be: “Disciplinary methods are the
foundation of a good class”

In addition to the 60 pages (thesis) I also have to do an
empirical survey. I thought I could make a scene-survey. I
would take two scenes in a everyday-life of a highschool
teacher where a student does not behave (behavior problems
such as: student always shows up in class late…or….student
never hands in his homework…and so on..).

For that I would need 15 American who would think about
those two scenes and write down successful solutions for
these problems. Minimum half a page for each scene. In the
next two weeks I will have the survey ready and would be
able to send it to you by email.

What could you help me with ?
Help Nr. 1.) I would like to know which two behavior
problems are happening the most in your class or your
school?
Help Nr. 2.) Would you volunteer and fill out the two
page scene-survey which consists of two behavior problems?
Pleeeeeeease!

I know that you might be very busy but this survey is
really important to me since I want to become a teacher in
NY also and I take this very serious.

I want to thank you sooooo much for your helping hand!!!!
Greetings aaaaaaaaaaaaaall the way from Austria !
