Look in the lesson plan section "Classroom Management" for a piece on Positive Self-Esteem. Print it out and leave it for the teacher.

Is it appropriate to grade a first graders paper in red marker, make x"s and slashes all over the paper and write rude remarks with exclamation marks all over it? My son has had all of his work returned this way. He has been given all negative remarks and f"s. Funny thing is his performance in his classroom work is the opposite of his work at home. He has even said his teacher thinks he is dumb. I"m very concerned and need advice before she takes the sparkle from my wonderful childs eyes. He used to love school but since he has had this teacher he dreads going, and comments on how she does not like him. Help

I have been a class room aid for 3 years. Anything from Kindergarten to SMI classes have been my assignments for the last several years. I have recently taken a permannet job and am working with two teachers(first year) who have no real class room experience. I really want to help and the teacher in charge of the department has seen me work and knows that I will be a benefit, but I"m not sure. These classes of high school students are already through their first semester and they are out of control. How can I help the teacher without stepping on their toes. They seem to want help and I have a few ideas but I"m not sure how to get my ideas across. Just so you know I am a mother of two teenagers and I believe all the students should have a good education. Most of these students are in the special education programs with IEP"s and have many family issues to deal with. However, I still believe the classroom needs to have some structure.

I teach in an inner city school in a life skills classroom. I have a student who has just went through losing a brother. And he has not opened up to me or anyone about it, and has been acting out horribly in the classroom. I have tried many things but nothing has worked. I feel for him, but he is disrupting my entire class. Does anyone have any ideas?

I am about to enter the elementary job market in Middlesex County. I taught in an inner city school system in another state for 12 years. Does anyone know anything about typical hiring practices in any of the school districts in and around Middlesex County? Do certain districts hire mostly new teachers rather than teachers with many years of experience? I don"t mind substituting to "get my foot in the door", but I don"t want to waste my time substituting for a district that will never hire me. Any information would be much appreciated!!

Hi all. I am currently doing a major research on young children with special needs, specifically cerebral palsy. Therefore, i would like to seek help from any teacher who have worked with children with cerebral palsy before to share your experience with me. I would also appreciate if you can tell me more about the classroom strategies that you use to include these children in your class. Any teachers who are willing to share their views and thoughts about including these special children in the mainstream are free to voice out your thoughts as well.

As a culminating activity to my States of America Unit, I ask anyone that can, to send to my class, postcards from any State in the U.S. If you have friends or relatives in other states could you ask them if they could do my classroom this favor. I am going to have them put the postcards on the bulletin board with a string going from the postcard to the city or state it is from. I don"t care if they are used or new. This will give them the little extra review of the states every time a postcard comes in the mail. I am including my address.
Please try to take the time to do this for me. Everyone knows that review helps to cement the knowledge into their minds and special education students need all the review they can get and it really helps if it is a fun activity.
Thank you
Karen

I have looked everywhere to locate this poem and feel you may be able to help. This poem was a inspiration while raising my children and I would like to know where I can find it. It is about a boy who colors his elephant the purple and is scolded. He chances everything to fit in, then the sky is no longer as blue and I believe the grass not as green and so forth. I have no idea of the name or the author. I would greatly appreciate a copy or information on how to locate it. Thank you so much for your time.

Hi!
I teach English to foreigners. I have worked for a language school for about 12 years. I am now interested in teaching on-line. I contacted an on-line school, they seemed very interested but what made me think twice is that they want me to do al least 6 hours per week for free, in order to "promote myself" and "get confident with the method". They promised that I will then get my own (Paid) lessons. It"s my first experience in this field......what do you think????? thanks and have a wonderful day Graziella

2nd Grade/ I am in a small room, physically old public school. There are no room for centers. The floors are dirty tiles. I love my kids but they are unruly but getting better. I need EASY centers without ink, etc. to put out and easily keep current while I teach my reading groups. I do have leap frog, listening center, but that is all the area I have for electonics. NO plugs elsewhere except for the two computers. Really! I have about 2 feet until I run into children"s desks. Suggestions please that will keep street kids involved for about 20 minutes without too much mess. Love and grateful hugs, Cyns
