Hi All, I"m just wondering if anyone has any resources for fluency passages that are already marked for breaks ( / , // .) I am needing passages for all of the elementary grades and I was hoping that I wouldn"t have to go through and create lots of marked passages myself.

Hi everyone. I am currently in the process of getting my BA for Middle School Education and, lately, I have been getting cold feet as to whether I can actually do this. I do want to teach, but there is a part of me that is telling I might not be cut out for this. I just wanted to see if anyone had some advice for me or if anyone has experienced this before when they were in school. Any advice is greatly appreciated :)

I am interested in writing an article/book about teachers" problems with administrators. i.e. bullies, abrasive, abusive... Is this happening only in my area or is it widespread? I am interested in knowing proposed/workable solutions (other than legal remedies), protective laws in other areas, and actual cases where power abuses have occurred and their outcomes. I will not use your name in my article unless you ask me to. Thank you, Mary

I have been teaching for 14 years. 12 of those have been in first grade and 2 of them have been in second grade. Now I have been displaced and am going to be teaching sixth grade at an intermediate site. The class is self-contained so it is still multiple subject; however, I am freaking out. Any help or suggestions on what to do with this age group, especially how to begin the year since I have no experience at this level would be greatly appreciated.

I"d like to comment on the article "the Evils of Book Reports." As a private tutor, one thing I found that was a good book report replacement with some children was to introduce the idea of the reaction paper. They enjoyed the idea of writing a short paper about anything that popped into their head while reading, instead of regurgitating the story for 3-4 pages.

Hello- I have recently accept a Special Education position at a career center (vocational school) that serves 11-12 grades. I will be teaching math, science and English. To be honest that is all I know about the job...I do not have any handle on the level of the students but I am guessing, after reading their IEP"s, I am going to have students with very high to very low academic ability . My question is do you have a general curriculum guide, resources, ANYTHING that will help me with the upcoming school year. Thanks in advance :)

English is either a second or third language to the national teachers in my country. Due to this we find writing reports very tedious. My colleagues and I endure cold nights collating semester reports for our students and the results is sometimes unhealthy. We are in dire need of simple report comments that can aid us in writing student"s reports. Beggars are not choosers therefore we will accept anything that you share with us.

Hi, I am now teaching pre-kindergarten (3 years old). What is the best practice in teaching phonics or the alphabet to 3 years old? Do I teach the letter name or just the sounds or both? There are so many opinions out there - I don"t want my students to get confused.

I am looking for a Georgia test preparation book for the GACE tests for teachers of Middle Grades Social Science. I was hoping that one of my collegues would have one so I wouldn"t have to spend 85 or so dollars that I don"t have. After 5 years of subbing I am so broke that I can"t pay attention much less pay for a book.

We teach "Roll of Thunder" in our 8th grade reading classes. we have not had a problem with any of the racist comments in the book; however, the teacher prefaces the book as being a period piece. I would be happy to get you two in touch so you can talk about how she has taught the unit. Just email me!
