| November 19, 2009 - 08:59 AM HELP!! Every year I have extreme difficulty teaching the perfect tenses of verbs. The students know how to write them, but do not know WHEN to use them. Thus they are familiar with Google. I would like to use Power point to present the listen. These children are very bright and used the computer each day at school. | ||||||||

| October 21, 2009 - 06:05 PM Is there a resource to help decide if teaching is the right job for me. I have a bachelors in business, some master level classes and have stopped. I"m 46, constantly intrigued by teaching and need to make a decision. I volunteer with our children"s ministry at church, school events, etc so I understand some of the responsibilities of keeping children "involved," but not to the level a teacher has to do all day. I think that"s what scares me most....would I be boring to kids. | ||||||||

I think a lot about teaching as a profession. Teachers are one of the most important influences on children and therefore on the future of our society, so why are they not the most respected and highly paid? Please share your thoughts with me. | October 11, 2009 - 09:28 AM I am a regular ed Kindergarten teacher. This year I have 3 children in my classroom with cerebral palsy,one with Down Syndrome and one with a diagnosis of Autism. I am looking for ideas on how to adapt activities to best serve these little guys, especially when we do activities involving fine motor skills. I have pencil grips and different scissors, but it is difficult to hand-over-hand three kids at a time (I usually have 1 other adult,) and address the needs of the rest of the class as well. | October 02, 2009 - 04:51 PM Hello all, I"m in my internship year at an elementary school and I"m in a real sticky situation. I thought the teacher that"s mentoring me liked me, were getting along great and she seemed to really like me. I did a lesson for her and she observed me and I got a great score, now I"ve done another one and she scored me really low. I"ve noticed that her attitude towards me has changed drastically and I don"t know why. When I get the observation back, she"s gone out on the deep end telling me all this stuff that I"m doing wrong, when she OK"d it at first. I heard from someone else that she thinks I"m trying to take over her class, but i"ve done nothing she hasn"t asked me to do. What should I do. I don"t know if her comments could get me in trouble with my school or not. What she"s saying isn"t true, but I don"t want to get her in trouble, because I really like her and respect her as a teacher?? Should I say something to the University I"m attending? Help!! | ||||||||

I am currently working on a project looking at the differences between white children and African Americans, as far as home environment, learning styles, history, etc. I also want to find information on education in Africa as far as structure, standards, statistics, methods, etc. I would appreciate any input from those who have worked or currently work as primary teachers in Africa or from those who know of helpful, reliable sources on education in Africa. | September 24, 2009 - 07:49 AM Science. I am looking to buy some prepared animal and plant cell slides that have the cell structures(mitochondria, nucleus, etc). I want to use these for my class to see what the cell structures look like under the microscope and eventually have a test where they have to identify them through the microscope. The assignment is: Explain the elements and interrelationships of curriculum orientations, standards-based education, and program orientations. What factors affect program decision-making? My question is the special ed. teacher does not have lessons planned out and on my 2nd day I was told to take 6 mentally handicapped children all on different levels and teach english without any materials at all.
