Safe Passagesupport for those struggling with homosexuality
|
The Lord has been faithful to lead participants to Safe Passage (a healing support group) who are longing for a deepened journey of intimacy with God -- even amidst struggles with homosexuality, damaged (incomplete or distressed) gender identity, and/or possibly related issues of sexual abuse or sexual addiction. Through worship, teaching, healing prayer, Communion, and group support, we experience the joys and difficulties of redeeming the capacity to connect with others in ways that affirm the life He intends to be expressed through us. This year, the healing work has been compact but in-depth, with most of the several participants again "graduating" to Living Waters (a nine-month healing program offered by Desert Stream). In the midst of what has felt like terrible stretching, many times of prayer and worship have been accompanied by an intensified outpouring of His love and healing presence. Continued intercession is much valued. Plans for 1998 include ongoing prayer team participation in Desert Stream and other healing conferences, expanded writings and web-work, preparation of workshop materials for future conferences and other events, ongoing connections with Safe Passage intercessors and related intercessory groups, and availability to equip and encourage others to faithfully share Christ's healing presence to those desiring to more fully reflect His image in their sexuality. The unrestrained willingness to entrust one's core identity to Christ, Who withheld nothing of Himself from us -- and relinquish all that would otherwise define or humanly compel us -- is indeed a powerful evidence of His grace and a profound symbol of renewal for the whole Church!
